To join the program, you need to register a Discover account, and your account must also be in good standing. After approval, you get your referral link. When your friends use that link to apply for a card and purchase in the first 3 months, you and your friend get a reward.

When you join Discover’s referral program, you get a Statement Credit for each friend you refer, up to $500 a year. However, the reward doesn’t apply to existing Discover card members.
The program offers a 30-day cookie duration. This means you’ll get a month to convince your audience to buy Discover products through your link.
After your friend is approved, it might take 1-2 billing periods for your Statement Credit to be posted to your account. You’ll get your reward through PayPal or a bank transfer.
